Floda kyrka, in Dala-Floda, is first mentioned in a document of 1332 and has grown from a small medieval structure into the spacious two-nave church seen today. Its character owes much to an 18th-century rebuilding, and it holds some distinctive local craftsmanship among its furnishings.

The earliest reference to a church here dates from 1332, likely describing a timber chapel. A stone church, thought to have been built in the early 15th century, followed, consisting of a rectangular nave with an attached sacristy and porch.

The building was substantially transformed around 1730, when the medieval church was largely demolished, though parts of the nave's west gable and south wall were reused. The space was doubled in size and the walls raised, with cross-vaulting added in 1734–35 and brick flooring laid. A sacristy was built north of the chancel in the mid-1730s. In 1797 the tower was added, replacing an earlier freestanding bell frame, and the nave received the broken roofline it still has today.

Further changes came in the 1880s, when the floor was relaid and open pews installed. A 1932 restoration, led by architect Ärland Noreen, sought to recreate the character of the 18th-century interior; enclosed pews were reinstated and a new brick floor laid in the porch.

Among the furnishings, the wooden font is the oldest surviving item, carved in the 17th century. The pulpit dates from 1774 and was made by a local parishioner, Corporal Knipa, who is said to have drawn on the pulpit at Grangärde kyrka for inspiration. The altarpiece, also from 1774, is the work of Johan Iverus Bernhardi and depicts the meeting of Jesus with Moses and Elijah on the Mount of Transfiguration, crowned by a gilded sunburst.

The church has had several organs over the years, including instruments from the 1880s and 1940s and a mechanical organ installed in 1988; a smaller 19th-century organ, once owned by the composer Oskar Lindberg's family, was later brought here and restored.
