Welcome to Västra Ämterviks kyrka, a neoclassical parish church in the village of Västra Ämtervik in Värmland, on the western shore of Lake Fryken. Built in 1818–20, it replaced an earlier wooden church destroyed by fire and remains a well-preserved example of its period.

Östra and Västra Ämtervik originally shared a single parish church on the eastern side of Lake Fryken. To avoid the difficult and often dangerous boat crossings, parishioners on the western shore petitioned for permission to build their own church, which was completed around 1672–73. That timber church was destroyed by fire following a lightning strike in 1815. The foundation stone for the present stone church was laid in 1818, and it was consecrated in 1821 by the rural dean Jonas Frykstedt, under the direction of master builders Johan Westman and Nils Olsson.

The church has a rectangular nave with a straight chancel to the east, a semi-circular sacristy beyond it, and a tower with entrance porch to the west, topped by a low wooden lantern with a copper roof and gilded cross. The building is considered a good example of neoclassical church architecture in the region.

When the earlier church burned down, only a handful of furnishings could be rescued. Among them was an unusual font of hammered brass, acquired in 1704, which still holds a brass baptismal dish. Two angel sculptures at the altar rail, carved in 1755, also survived the fire and were brought into the new building. The pulpit and altarpiece date from the 1820s, contemporary with the present church, and the altar painting was completed in 1825.

The church's organ has a layered history: an instrument built in 1893 was largely rebuilt in 1927, retaining the earlier case as its facade, with further alterations made in the 1970s. The interior was thoroughly renovated in 1989, when it was given a partly new colour scheme.
