Värings kyrka, in the village of Väring in northern Skövde municipality, stands on a medieval church site in Västra Götaland. The present stone church was built between 1811 and 1813, though parts of its predecessor may survive within the current structure.

The church occupies a site with medieval origins, and it is possible that elements of the earlier building were incorporated into the church seen today. Built in late Gustavian style between 1811 and 1813, it was consecrated in November 1813. The building follows a round-arched style with a rounded chancel and a sacristy to the south. The nave was enlarged in 1841, and the low tower gained its lantern in 1859, to designs by the architect Johan Fredrik Åbom.

The most notable survivor from the medieval church is the sandstone font, dated to the twelfth century. It is considered a distinctive example of local Västergötland stone-carving, decorated with symbolic imagery including a cross, a ship representing the church, and a beast representing evil; its base was remade in 1957.

The church's original late-medieval great bell has an interesting afterlife: sold in 1923 to the Nordic Museum, it now hangs as the smaller bell in the tower of Seglora kyrka at Skansen, the open-air museum in Stockholm.

The altarpiece is a twentieth-century addition. In 1980 the artist Harry W Svensson of Fägre created a relief he called the Sermon on the Mount, intended to evoke a landscape in which the gathered crowd merges with the congregation itself, filled with trees, flowers, animals, birds, and figures listening or playing. According to one source, the altar's wings are traditionally closed during Holy Week and opened again on Easter Day to reveal what is described as a landscape of life and resurrection, though it is unclear whether this practice continues today.

The organ was installed in 1957–58 by A. Magnusson Orgelbyggeri AB of Gothenburg, with nineteen stops across two manuals and pedal. It reused the visible pipe façade from an earlier 1874 organ by E. A. Setterquist & Son of Örebro, a small number of whose stops are said to survive within the instrument.
