The church was built in 1974 as a joint project between Oskarshamn parish and the EFS mission society, reflecting a period when Lutheran parishes and free-church mission organisations sometimes combined resources to serve growing residential areas. It was designed in a modernist style by the architect Géza Hortay, with the building work carried out by Skånska Cementgjuteriet.
The church was consecrated on the first Sunday of Advent in 1974, in a service led by mission director Torsten Wiberg with Bishop Sven Lindegård in attendance. This dual involvement of church and mission leadership underlines the collaborative origins of the building.
From the autumn of 2008, Oskarshamn parish became the sole principal responsible for the church. It underwent a renovation and was rededicated on 9 October 2011 by the provost Alf Johansson.
Today the church hall and parish hall stand side by side, and the building continues to host regular activities for children, young people and adults during the week, alongside its use for worship.
