Västra Sönnarslövs kyrka stands a few miles southwest of Klippan in Skåne, replacing a medieval stone church that had fallen into serious disrepair. Built in the 1890s in a Gothic Revival style, it remains the parish church of Klippans församling within the Diocese of Lund.

The original village church, a Romanesque stone building dating from the early twelfth century, stood a few kilometres to the west. By the late nineteenth century it was judged too dilapidated to repair, and the difficult decision was taken to replace it entirely. According to local accounts, the old building was sold off cheaply—reportedly for around 100 kronor, with its pulpit fetching a mere 16 kronor—before being demolished.

The present church was constructed in 1893–94 using grey stone quarried locally, said to have come from Klintarp and Söderåsen, along with brick reportedly transported by rail, packed in straw, to the nearby station at Kvidinge. The design, credited to the architect Gustaf Petterson, drew on Gothic Revival forms with a Gotland-influenced character: a long nave with a narrower, straight-ended chancel, a sacristy attached to the northeast, and a tall west tower housing the main entrance and porch. The church was consecrated on 22 October 1894 by the theologian Sven Libert Bring.

Few furnishings survived the move from the old church, but one striking exception hangs on the north wall of the nave: a triumphal crucifix dating from the late fifteenth century, with a cross of pine and a carved figure of Christ in oak. A small cross set with twelve semi-precious stones stands on the altar cabinet, said to have been a gift from two female missionaries working in India.,,

Two bells hang in the tower. One is dated 1739 and is thought to have hung in the old church's freestanding bell tower before being moved; the other was cast in 1893 by Göteborgs Mekaniska Verkstad. The church also has a mechanical organ built in 1969 by Anders Persson Orgelbyggeri of Viken, replacing an earlier nine-stop instrument installed in 1894 by Salomon Molander & Co of Gothenburg.

A detail of local social history is worth noting: the completion of the new church in 1894 coincided with the abandonment of the old custom of seating men and women separately, on opposite sides of the nave.
