Visnums kyrka, in Kristinehamn Municipality, was consecrated in 1733 and remains a well-preserved timbered church clad in wooden shingles. Built mainly between 1730 and 1733 under master builder Philip Eckel, it stands close to the site of its medieval predecessor and retains a notable link to that earlier building.

The church replaced an earlier medieval wooden church that had stood roughly 300 metres to the southeast; archaeological investigation in 1963 uncovered its foundations, which shared a ground plan with the timber churches at Hammarö and Södra Råda. When the old church was eventually taken down, some of its timber was reused in 1734 to build the freestanding bell tower that still stands beside the present building.

The church has a cross-shaped plan, with a sacristy extension between the eastern and northern arms and porches in front of the west, south and north gables. Its timber walls, clad in red-painted shingles, sit beneath shingle-covered hipped roofs with round-arched window openings, while the interior is covered by two intersecting barrel vaults of wood. A porch was added in 1742, the exterior was altered in the 1840s, and the interior was reworked again in the 1930s.

Among the furnishings, sources differ slightly on dating: one account describes an altar cabinet from the medieval period generally, while another attributes an altarpiece cabinet specifically to 1525, the work of the so-called Visnum Master. The pulpit, carved by Bengt Svensson, is dated to 1684 by one source and given a wider range of 1684–1773 by another; it was carried over from the earlier church. A later altarpiece, carved by Isac Schullström and completed in 1745, is set within a painted drapery on the chancel wall.

Other notable items include several medieval wooden sculptures, among them a depiction of Saint Olof dated to the 15th century, and a collection of older textiles, including 18th-century chasubles. The organ has its own layered history: an instrument built in 1847 by Erik Adolf Setterquist was succeeded by the current pneumatic organ, built in 1913 by Åkerman & Lund and later revised in 1963, though it retains the façade of the earlier 1847 instrument.
