Mo kyrka

Mo kyrka: Mo parish was part of Själevad parish until 1822. A number of villages in the western part of the parish requested to form their own pastorate and build their own church. Since 2022, Mo parish has been part of Örnsköldsvik södra pastorat.

His Royal Majesty approved the request of the Mo villages for a church of their own, but this could only happen once the vicar of Själevad had resigned, which he did in 1822.

In 1827 the first vicar of Mo, Mikael Huss, took up his post, but when he did so he had to hold services in a half-finished church. At that time the nave had been approved and consecrated for the celebration of worship.

In 1830 the church was fully completed, with tower and cladding all around. The master builder was Simon Geting. Two church bells hang in the tower, which since that time have called people to worship and fellowship in the small white wooden church.
