Jonsereds kyrka, in the village of Jonsered near Partille, forms part of Partille parish alongside Partille kyrka. This nineteenth-century church owes its existence to the founder of the Jonsered factories and offers visitors a compact example of English-inspired neo-Gothic design.

The church was built between 1858 and 1860 after William Gibson the Elder, founder of the Jonsered factories, left money in his will for a church to be built. Designed by architect Adolf Wilhelm Edelswärd, it was consecrated in May 1860. Because the works manager at Jonsered had funded a priest's post, he also held the right to appoint the incumbent, a patronage arrangement that lasted until 1922.

Owing to the sloping terrain, the church is oriented north-south rather than the more usual east-west. It is built of whitewashed brick in an English-inspired neo-Gothic style, with a slender tower and an even narrower three-sided chancel, a slate roof and copper-clad spires. In 1897 the chancel was extended to designs by architect Yngve Rasmussen, when the chancel wall gained a rose window and three further windows by the artist Reinhold Callmander, and the nave was given arched vaulting.

Among the fittings is a carved wooden font from 1860, its silver-plated basin a gift from the Gibson family in 1909. The altarpiece, by the artist Albert Eldh, and the pulpit, designed by Axel Forssén, were both dedicated on Thanksgiving Day in 1927. A striking altar ornament by silversmith Göran Boström, a cross of patinated brass with gilded copper thorn tendrils and garnet-set wounds of Christ, was given to the church in 1960.

The church's organ has an unusually long history of its own. Built as a small organ positive in 1783 by Pehr Schiörlin, it was originally intended for a church in Gothenburg, then sold to Örgryte parish in 1789, before being bought in 1868 by William Gibson for Jonsered, where it remained in use until 1927. Later restorations, notably one in 1991, returned its pipework to something closer to its eighteenth-century condition.

On 15 May 1960 the church, until then privately owned, was formally handed over to Partille parish, with the deed of donation stipulating that it continue to be used for worship within the Church of Sweden. It now serves as a district church within the parish.
