Björkö kyrka, on the island of Björkö in the Öckerö archipelago, is a twentieth-century church built and owned by an independent foundation rather than the state. Consecrated in 1957, it serves the local community with a simply designed but distinctive interior.

The church was built without public funding, financed instead through voluntary contributions, and remains the property of the Björkö kyrka association. It was designed by the architect Olov Geggen and completed in 1957. The exterior is faced with yellow brick beneath a roof of single-curved tiles, with the entrance set into a tower on the long side near the west gable.

Inside, the church has a gabled ceiling of unpainted wooden panelling, a central aisle and fixed pews. A smaller chancel lies beyond a half-circular triumphal arch, and the stone altar is focused on a crucifix that visitors often single out as the most striking feature of the interior.

The church also houses an attached parish hall, reflecting its role as a community building as much as a place of worship. A new organ, built in 2007 by the Latvian organ builder Jānis Kalniņš of Ugale, was inaugurated at the first Sunday of Advent that year and has twelve stops across two manuals and pedal.

Björkö kyrka belongs to a wider network of church and parish buildings on Öckerö's northern islands, including Knippla kapell — purchased from a local EFS congregation and renovated in 1994 — and parish halls on Hyppeln and Rörö, the latter also serving as a venue for the island's library, school and associations. Many of these buildings, like Björkö kyrka itself, are maintained by local foundations and associations relying largely on voluntary funding rather than church tax revenue.
