Stora Tuna kyrka, near Borlänge in Dalarna, is one of the region's grandest churches. Consecrated in 1469, it was built with ambitions of becoming a cathedral and today serves as the main church of its parish.

The church stands on the site of an earlier stone church from the 1200s, itself close to a place once associated with pre-Christian worship of the god Frey. Consecrated in 1469 by the Bishop of Västerås, it was constructed without a tower, though its overall size and form have otherwise remained largely unchanged since medieval times.

The tower has a chequered history. A first tower was added at the end of the 16th century but burned down in 1590. Its replacement was twice severely damaged by fire after lightning strikes, in 1664 and again in 1807. The present tower, rising 86 metres and topped with a copper roof, dates only from 1914–1915, designed by the architect Axel Lindegren during the First World War.

Inside, the church can seat some 700 people, making it one of Sweden's largest rural churches. Notable furnishings include a medieval font, a triumphal crucifix, and a pulpit described as especially fine. There are also royal portraits, an altar and altarpiece, and a copy of Gustav Vasa's Bible, the first Swedish translation of the scriptures, published in 1541.

The church has two organs: a main organ built in 1969 by A. Magnusson Orgelbyggeri, with 43 stops across three manuals and pedal, and a smaller choir organ from 1966 by the same builder.

The churchyard is closely linked to the celebrated tenor Jussi Björling, who along with several members of his musical family is buried here; the church is sometimes described as his home church. The bishop and hymn writer Johan Olof Wallin is also associated with the church. Other features mentioned around the churchyard include the Estonia memorial and the so-called Wallin stone, along with the nearby Frostbrunnsdalen valley and the smaller Lilla Tuna kyrka.
