Before a church building existed, services for the mining settlement were held in the mess hall of the Tuolluvaara mining company and, at times, in a school room. The community's first purpose-built church, a timber structure with a rectangular plan and a saddle roof, was consecrated on 2 November 1957 by Bishop Ivar Hylander.
Because the original site was later considered at risk of ground subsidence, a new church was built further into the settlement, physically joined to Tuolluvaara school. This present church was consecrated on 19 September 1999 by Bishop Rune Backlund.
Inside, an icon depicting Christ the King, painted by Lars Gerdmar in 1993, hangs on the wall of the church.
The church's first organ was built in 1956 by the Hamburg organ builder Rudolf von Beckerath. It is a mechanical instrument with divided registers, giving the church a modest but historically interesting organ for its size.
