Lersjöns kapell, consecrated in September 1960, stands almost on the border between Sweden and Norway, in the Värmland village of Lersjön. Its unusual location and small-scale, homely origins make it one of the more distinctive chapels in Karlstad diocese.

The chapel building itself stands just inside Sweden, while its bell tower stands a short distance away on the border line, in Norway. Before the chapel existed, local people held their devotions in private homes, most often at the house of a neighbour named Olaf Tollefsböll. When he built himself a new home, he gave his old cottage to serve as a chapel, and it was converted and consecrated for worship in 1960. Sources differ slightly on the details of this conversion: one account notes that the building was moved around 30 metres at the time so that it could stand as close as possible to the Norwegian border.

In 1963 the chapel passed into the care of Eda parish. A thorough renovation took place in the 1980s, during which the building was again moved slightly, this time to rest on firmer foundations, and new porch and chancel extensions were added. The roof was relaid in slate and the windows replaced, while the interior fittings were also renewed at this time.

The chapel is simple in form: a timbered, weatherboarded and red-painted structure entered through a west porch, with a single rectangular nave leading to a narrower chancel. Inside, the nave walls show visible round-hewn logs, giving the interior a rustic, cabin-like character in keeping with its origins as a converted house.

Among the furnishings, the wooden font was a gift from the neighbouring Eidskog parish in Norway, a fitting reminder of the chapel's cross-border links; the two parishes are known to have held joint services here. The silver baptismal bowl associated with the font carries a biblical inscription relating to the words of Christ welcoming children, and the altar painting is a triptych completed in the early 1990s by a Norwegian artist based in Arvika.
