Munkfors kyrka, in the small industrial town of the same name in Värmland, has a dramatic history: the original 1920 church by architect Bror Almquist was destroyed by fire in 1984, and a new church was built upon its old walls, completed in 1987.

Ransäters kyrka

Ransäters kyrka, in Ransäter in Värmland, is a striking example of a church rebuilt after disaster. Its timber predecessor, dating from the 1660s, burned to the ground in December 1983; the present building was consecrated on 1 February 1986.
