Since Ytterlännäs kyrka was built, it has been restored several times. In 1877 heating was installed in the church - so-called "Gurney stoves". In 1896 the present sacristy was built. The old one had been housed in the apse that now forms the chancel. Further restorations took place in 1928, 1954 and 1983. After the most recent restoration, the number of seats was significantly reduced and a bridal chamber and other contemporary facilities were instead installed.
Of the church's furnishings, only a few date back as far as the church's construction. Most are gifts made during restorations and on other occasions. The chancel window is a gift from Constantin Falk in 1900, and the image of Christ (a copy of Thorvaldsen's) was donated to the church at its re-consecration in 1928 by John and Ulla Ekman, Väja.
Ytterlännäs kyrka holds 440 people, including staff.
