On a hillside some 15 kilometres south of Härnösand stands Häggdångers kyrka, a rural parish church consecrated in 1785 that preserves treasures from far older buildings on the same site.

A church has stood on this spot since the 1200s, but the present building dates from 1784-1785, built to designs by the architect Per Hagmansson. The stone tower followed later, raised in 1848 by Anders Åkerlund according to plans drawn up in 1827 by Carl Gustaf Blom Carlsson, although the tower's foundations had already been laid in 1784. The church consists of a nave with a straight-ended chancel to the east and the tower to the west, with a sacristy attached north of the chancel and entrances through the tower and the south wall.

Among the church's furnishings is a limestone baptismal font of Gotland type dating from the 13th century, along with an iron candlestick from the 1500s. A particularly notable survival is a chasuble of Italian velvet bearing embroidery worked as early as the 14th century, possibly originally intended for a cope. The pulpit was carved in 1730 by Måns Gran and was brought to Häggdånger from Säbrå church in 1785.

Other distinctive objects include a votive ship dating from 1781, a funeral escutcheon (begravningsvapen) from 1753, and an unusual floor clock with two dials from 1814. Together these pieces give the church an interior richer in medieval and 18th-century detail than its comparatively modest size might suggest.

The church's organ has been rebuilt and altered several times since the mid-19th century, most recently in 2000, though its façade still dates from an earlier instrument of 1853. A separate, smaller chancel organ was added in 1985.
