As early as the 1930s, deans and bishops visiting the area emphasised the importance of having a dedicated church building in Hoting. In 1974, the bell tower was erected on the plot where the church would eventually be built. Hotings kyrka was consecrated in 1986 by Bishop Bengt Hallgren.
