The church was built between 1964 and 1966 to designs by the architect Johannes Olivegren, and was consecrated on 15 May 1966. It represents the clean, functional style typical of many Swedish parish churches from this period, favouring simple form and natural light over elaborate decoration.
Small stained-glass windows are set into the walls, and a rose window is placed above the chancel, providing focal points of colour within the otherwise restrained interior. The artistic decoration was created by Randi Fisher and Ralph Bergholtz.
The font and altar are made of granite from Småland, giving the interior a grounded, natural quality that complements the modern architecture.
A free-standing bell tower, built at the same time as the church, stands nearby; further bells have been added to it since the church's construction.
