Södra Fågelås kyrka is a timber church in Hjo kommun, Västra Götaland, almost certainly dating from the early 1600s. Built of substantial log walls and clad in wooden shingles throughout its history, it belongs to Fågelås församling within the Diocese of Skara.

The church consists of a nave with a straight-ended chancel to the east, a porch on the south-eastern side of the nave, and a sacristy to the north. Its log-built walls are covered externally with split, red-painted wooden shingles, and the nave and chancel each have their own shingle-clad saddle roof.

Restoration work during the 1700s and 1800s altered the church's appearance considerably: the timber walls were planed smooth and older wall paintings were largely destroyed, with the interior whitewashed. Sources agree that most of the original decorative scheme was lost by the late nineteenth century, though a fragment survives on the chancel ceiling. A more recent restoration, completed in 1942, exposed the log walls once again and introduced new windows and pews.

The altarpiece was donated to the church in 1683. Its central panel, however, is a painting from 1942 by Simon Gate, an artist with roots in the parish, illustrating how older furnishings were sometimes reworked during twentieth-century restorations rather than simply preserved. The pulpit and font, both in wood, date from the 1600s.

The free-standing bell tower, built in a pronounced Swiss-chalet style, dates from 1887, replacing an earlier seventeenth-century structure destroyed by fire after a thunderstorm. Its wooden panelling was repainted red in 1942, and a copper roof covering was added in 1971. Two bells of the same period hang within it.

The church's organ has also changed over time: in 1857 the parish sought to sell its existing seven-stop instrument in favour of a larger one, and the current organ was built in 2014 by Ålems Orgelverkstad AB.
