Ragunda kyrka: Church in Ragunda parish, Sydöstra Jämtlands pastorat, eastern district. Open in summer 2026. June-August, Mon-Fri 08:00-15:30.

The new church was designed by Johan Fredrik Åbom in 1846. The work of constructing the church was led by master builder Frans Agathon Lindstein. After some years of work, the church was consecrated in 1853.

The church's fittings, together with their colour scheme, were carried out by Göran Sundin from Sunne.

The church has since undergone several extensive renovations. The first was carried out in 1939-1940 under the direction of master builder Elof Fridh, when the western door was closed up and a side altar was created; electric lighting and electric heating were also installed at that time. The altarpiece, a relief in ivory-coloured wood by the sculptor Olof Ahlberg, was added in this context. It is called "Christ comes to his congregation", and residents of Ragunda served as models for the figures around Christ.

A second extensive renovation was carried out in 1980-82, when preparation rooms and toilet facilities were added beneath the gallery. The chancel was widened by removing pews. The church's interior was cleaned and some conservation work was undertaken. The church was re-consecrated on 25 April 1982.

In 2010, a major exterior renovation was carried out, with a new tower roof and renovation and gilding of the tower's cross. The church was painted in a colour scheme of white and pale pink, reflecting the architect's original proposal and the colouring the church may have had in its early years, before it later became entirely white.

The older altarpiece, painted by Göran Sundin, hung for a long time out of sight behind the chancel organ, but now adorns the side chancel following a rebuilding in 2010 that created more space around the font.

The pulpit is carved by Salomon Jonsson-Hägglöf from Häggenås, who also made the hymn number boards.

The pew fittings are the work of master builder Fridh, added during the 1939 renovation. The gallery organ was originally made by P.L. Åkerman but later rebuilt by Firma Setterqvist, Örebro. The chancel organ was added in 1982 and was made by A Magnussons Orgelbyggeri, Gothenburg.

The limestone font is from Brunflo and is dedicated to the memory of vicar Olle Arbman. The church's oldest lighting fixtures are pewter candle stands given to the church in 1708 but made in London in 1696.

When the vicarage burned down in 1849, all the church silver was lost, so all the communion silver dates from 1859-60. The two bells previously hung in the old church's bell tower. The great bell was cast in 1694. The age of the small bell is unknown, but it was recast in 1751 and 1851.
