Björkhällakyrkan stands in the centre of Borensberg, in the Diocese of Linköping. It is a comparatively modern parish church, consecrated on Easter Sunday 1988, and was designed and built by the firm Nordiska Trähus.

Unlike many Swedish churches with centuries of layered history, Björkhällakyrkan is a purely twentieth-century building, put up in 1988 to serve Borensberg parish. Its design reflects the practical needs of a modern congregation rather than following older ecclesiastical templates.

The building combines a worship space with two adjoining parish halls that can be opened up to extend the main church room when needed, alongside a sacristy, an entrance hall (kyrktorg) and office space. This flexible layout is characteristic of many Swedish churches built in the later twentieth century, prioritising community use alongside worship.

The altarpiece was painted by the local Borensberg artist Anders Gustafsson, giving the church a distinctly regional artistic connection rather than relying on historic or imported works.

The organ was built in 1989 by Ålems Orgelverkstad and inaugurated in early 1990. It is a mechanical instrument, modest in scale, fitting for a church of this size and recent foundation.
