Timmerviks kyrka is a sacred and living space for stillness, prayer and worship. Timmervik belongs to Gestad's medieval parish.

For a long time, the population here had wished for a church of their own, since the distance to the parish church was over ten kilometres — a comparatively long way before the motor car became common property. In 1926, a building committee was therefore formed, and alongside the local population, the vicar of Bolstad's pastorate, Lars Magnus Engström, was a driving force behind the construction. The church was built chiefly through voluntarily collected funds, and the drawings were prepared by curate Ernst Wennerblad. He had previously designed Brännemo chapel church in Götlunda parish in the Diocese of Skara, and largely the same drawings were used here. The administration of the church was managed until 1971 by the Timmervik Church Foundation, after which Gestad parish took over responsibility. Since its inauguration in 1927, the building has undergone few changes and remains essentially preserved in its original form.

The whitewashed brick church has a traditional design with nave, tower and a chancel extension, which also houses a sacristy. The long sides of the facades have pilaster-like masonry piers, so-called buttresses (contreforts). The outer frames of the round-arched windows are made of cast iron, and the roofs are clad in black-painted, standing-seam sheet metal. Above the tower porch there is a stone tablet bearing the text: "Timmerviks kyrka. Åren 1926-27 uppbyggde kärleken detta Herrens hus" ("Timmervik Church. In the years 1926-27, love built this house of the Lord"). The interior of the church has been shaped by the artist and architect Yngve Kernell. It is simply designed and has furnishings typical of its era, dominated by a colour scheme of marbling and graining paintwork in green, brown and blue.

Worth seeing inside
Instead of an altarpiece, there is a chancel window with a lead-framed stained-glass painting. It is dominated by a central figure of Christ and the Holy Spirit, and was made in 1955 by the artist Erik Abrahamsson of Gothenburg. The pulpit is carefully designed, and its body has a painted panel field showing the stone tablets. A corresponding painted panel field, with clusters of grapes and ears of corn, is found on the altar rail. The christening font is carved in oak and is contemporary with the church.

The churchyard
The "old churchyard" was established with voluntarily donated funds and was inaugurated in 1937. The separate "new churchyard", with its accompanying memorial garden, was added in 1996.
