Brunnby kyrka, on the Kullaberg peninsula in Skåne, dates back to the 1100s and is best known for its well-preserved medieval wall paintings. Set within a walled churchyard, this small parish church has grown and changed considerably over the centuries.

The original church, built of grey stone in the 12th or early 13th century, consisted of a nave and a narrower square chancel. Very little survives from this earliest phase beyond two small windows; a triumphal crucifix from the 1300s, once part of the church's furnishings, is now kept at the Historical Museum in Lund rather than on site.

The building was substantially enlarged during the 1400s, when the north transept, the tower with its Gothic windows, and vaulting decorated with lime paintings were added, largely funded by gifts from the Krognos family of nearby Krapperup. The paintings, dated to around 1475–1500, are attributed to the so-called Helsingborg Master, also responsible for similar work in Helsingborg's Mariakyrkan; fragments of even older 14th-century decoration have also been found on the interior walls. Themes include the Virgin Mary and Christ Child, the Coronation of the Virgin, various saints including female saints and Nordic royal saints, and the church's patron, Saint Andrew.

Further changes followed over the centuries: a first church bell arrived in 1556, still in use today though later recast, and the church was refitted with new altarpiece, font, pulpit and other furnishings ahead of a bishop's visitation in 1623 — the pulpit seen today dates from this time. A lightning strike in 1774 partly brought down the tower, prompting repairs completed by 1775. Sources differ slightly on some later structural details, such as when a porch was demolished and replaced by a further transept.

The church's present appearance owes much to a major restoration in 1911–12, led by Theodor Wåhlin, during which the long-covered medieval paintings were uncovered again, the transepts widened, and a new organ installed. Built by the firm E. A. Setterquist & Son to a specification advised by the organist and composer Otto Olsson, the pneumatic organ was inaugurated in December 1912 with Olsson himself at the keyboard. A further thorough restoration in 1994–95 included careful cleaning of all the church's paintings.

Among the notable furnishings is a brass christening bowl, still in use, donated in 1632 and said to bear a stamped image of the baptism of Christ; an oak font carved at the Gothenburg paramentics workshop was given by Baron Nils Gyllenstierna of Krapperup in 1895. Votive ships hanging in the vaults recall the parish's long connection with seafaring, and the churchyard is associated with the poet Anders Österling, whose poem "Den blå hortensian" is said to be set here.
