Andersbergskyrkan stands centrally in the Andersberg district of Halmstad, beside Grönevångs torg. Built for a neighbourhood that grew up in the 1960s, it was designed as a practical, welcoming community church rather than a grand landmark.

The church was consecrated in 1969, part of the wave of housing and community development that created the Andersberg district during that decade. Rather than standing alone, it forms part of a single building that also houses a parish hall, a kitchen and rooms used for activities such as children's groups, and it sits close to a school, library, shop and youth recreation centre, reflecting its role as a genuinely local, everyday place of worship.

Since 2016 the church has belonged to Halmstad parish, having previously been part of Martin Luthers församling, within the Diocese of Gothenburg.

Inside, visitors can see a tapestry depicting the Creation, made by Kerstin Persson at Agda Österberg's studio, along with an icon of Christ and a sculpture of Mary. These modest but thoughtfully chosen furnishings give the interior a quiet devotional character typical of Swedish churches built in this period.

The organ, built in 1969 by the Gothenburg firm Hammarbergs Orgelbyggeri, is a small mechanical instrument with six stops on one manual and pedal, its pipes visible in the facade. A 16-foot Subbas stop was added later, a modest but notable enhancement to an otherwise simple, unified instrument.
