Segeltorps kyrka takes its name from Sankt Mikaels kapell, the small wooden chapel that first served the local congregation. Set among residential streets in Segeltorp, Huddinge, the present church reflects a history of rebuilding after fire and changing needs.

The congregation's story began in the 1930s, when a local church working group set out to raise funds for a chapel. With support from church-promotion donations, S:t Mikaels kapell was completed and consecrated in February 1933. In 1970 the chapel was extended with a so-called 'vandringskyrka' (an ambulatory-style church hall) designed by architect Rolf Bergh, and the building took the name Segeltorps kyrka.

In 1987 the older chapel building was badly damaged by fire. Only the 1970 church hall escaped destruction, and this surviving space became the cornerstone of the rebuilt church, completed in 1989 in its current form. The building is topped by a square pyramid roof crowned with a gilded spire in the shape of two Viking ships, and the interior is supported by a laminated-timber (glulam) construction. A freestanding bell tower stands beside the church, and the parish rooms were designed by Sam Granström's architectural office.

Inside, visitors can see a carved oak font with a hand-hammered brass basin made by the sculptor Mats Eriksson. The altarpiece is a woven textile in varying shades of blue, created by Anna Lisa Odelqvist-Kruse.

The church's organ history reflects the building's own changes: an organ originally built in 1958 for Trångsunds kyrka was moved here in 1961, before being replaced by the current instrument, made by Mårtenssons orgelfabrik in 1992.
