Selångers kyrka, in the Selånger district near Sundsvall, is a late 18th-century parish church built to designs by Olof Tempelman. It replaced an earlier medieval stone church, whose ruins still stand nearby alongside an ancient rune stone, reflecting a parish history stretching back many centuries.

The present church was built in 1780–1781 by master builders Daniel Lundquist and Johan Christoffer Loell. It consists of a nave with a chancel to the east, a west tower, and a sacristy beyond the chancel. Selånger itself is first recorded in a document of 1314, though the parish is thought to be considerably older; the town of Sundsvall, despite its own proud traditions, was administratively part of Selånger until 1822.

The building is constructed of grey stone, with its windows and doors framed in brick in a manner typical of many churches of this type and period. Inside, the vaulted ceiling was originally built of brick, but concerns that it might collapse led to it being replaced, not long after construction, with a wooden barrel vault supported on transverse arches and wall pilasters. The round-arched windows and the plain, well-proportioned exterior are characteristic of late 18th-century Swedish parish church architecture.

Of the earlier church on the site, built of grey stone around 1200, only a ruin remains. Beside it stands the Selånger stone, a Viking Age rune stone, a reminder of just how long this has been a place of gathering and worship.

Inside the church, the pulpit, carved with gilded ornamentation in 1790 by the sculptor Olof Berggren of Borgsjö, is a notable piece of craftsmanship, its imagery including symbols of faith, hope and love. Berggren is also credited with the altarpiece, shaped to resemble the front of a classical temple with a Latin cross set within it. A medieval font base in limestone, dating from the 1200s, survives from the earlier church and now carries a reconstructed basin.

Among the church's more unusual furnishings is a funerary hatchment commemorating Erich Theet, a district judge (häradshövding) over Medelpad who died in 1693; described as a striking baroque work and said to be the only example of its kind in the Medelpad region, it combines heraldic imagery, armour and elaborate scrollwork.
