Helgesta kyrka is a medieval stone church near Sparreholm in Södermanland, part of Flen, Helgesta-Hyltinge parish in the Diocese of Strängnäs. Standing beside Lake Båven, it offers a good example of a small rural church shaped by centuries of alteration.

The church was originally built in stone during the twelfth century, a modest structure typical of the region's early parish churches. It is thought that in the fourteenth century the building was extended eastward and a sacristy added to the north-east side of the nave, while the fifteenth century brought a porch on the south-west side and, probably, the vaulted ceiling within the church.

The most dramatic change came in 1764, when the north wall, the medieval sacristy and the vaults were demolished as part of a thorough rebuilding. The church emerged twice as wide as before, with a new roof and a plastered wooden barrel vault forming the ceiling. A new sacristy was built against the east gable, and the windows were enlarged to bring more light into the interior.

Further changes followed in 1902, when the sacristy was converted into a chancel and a new sacristy was built to the north beside it. A free-standing bell tower, dating from 1641, stands apart from the main church building.

Among the church's furnishings, the font is the oldest, dating back to the twelfth century and surviving all the later rebuilding work. The pulpit was donated to the church in 1687. The church's first organ, with nine stops, was built in 1848 by Johan Lund of Stockholm; it was later enlarged in 1939 by the Danish firm Th. Frobenius & Co, which added a second manual and pedal, bringing the total to fifteen stops.
