Starby kyrka is a parish church in the village of Starby, part of Strövelstorps församling in the Diocese of Lund, Skåne. Standing south-east of Ängelholm, it dates back to around 1200 and retains traces of its long medieval and later history.

The original church was built of brick around the year 1200. Its medieval form survived largely intact until the early 19th century, with whitewashed brick walls, a stepped gable on the nave and chancel, and a lead-covered roof, alongside a porch on the south side. A brick vaulted ceiling replacing an earlier flat wooden roof or wooden barrel vault was added sometime in the 15th century.

The church's appearance changed considerably during the 19th century. The freestanding wooden bell tower, already reported as decayed by 1662 and rebuilt once in 1737, was finally replaced by the present stone tower in 1818–1819, built to designs by the architect Axel Almfelt. In 1854–1855 the church was extended eastwards with a rubble-stone addition, raising the chancel to match the height and width of the nave, and adding the current apse-shaped sacristy. The older western part of the nave, with its vaulting, was left untouched.

Inside, the pulpit is believed to date from 1668, though the date 1681 appears on its canopy — a small discrepancy left unresolved by tradition. The altarpiece, depicting the Agony in the Garden at Gethsemane, was painted in 1831 by Alexander Malmqvist. A medieval font was removed during the 1819 rebuilding but was brought back to the church in 1998 and now stands in the chancel, while a newer font from 1891 is placed near the entrance beneath the organ loft.

The church's furnishings reflect several generations of craftsmanship. Communion vessels are recorded as far back as an inventory of 1662. Of the two bells, one dates from 1631 and the other from 1774, the latter having been recast in 1787.

An 1862 organ by the Gothenburg builder Johan Nikolaus Söderling originally had seven stops with wooden pipes, later replaced with metal ones; its façade survives on the gallery balustrade. It was superseded in 1933 by the present pneumatic organ, built by A. Magnussons Orgelbyggeri of Gothenburg and housed within the tower vault behind the gallery.

Further changes followed in the 20th century, including interior redecoration in 1912, when the vault arches were painted and a clock was installed in the tower lantern, and the introduction of electric heating in the 1950s. The exterior was last re-rendered in 1982.
