Rya kyrka, near Eket in Örkelljunga municipality in southern Sweden, stands on a hill where an earlier medieval church once served the local community. Possibly built by monks from Herrevad Abbey in the late 1100s, that first church now survives only as a ruin beside the present building.

The medieval church had walls over a metre thick, built of granite rubble, and originally had a flat wooden ceiling that was replaced by brick vaulting in the 1400s. When the current church was completed in the 1870s to a design by master builder J. Hallberg of Ängelholm, the old building was abandoned and left to become a ruin.

The brick church, consecrated in 1875, houses an altar and altarpiece added during a 1949–50 restoration; the altarpiece was painted by the artist Pär Siegård. An older altar painting, dated to the late 1500s, also survives. The pulpit dates from 1875 and carries decorative painting by Gert Kaffa.

The church's interior was altered again in the early 1970s, when the nave was shortened beneath the organ gallery, a new vestry created, and the altar rail removed from the chancel.

Among the older furnishings are a brass chandelier, a pair of brass altar candlesticks and a communion chalice, all said to date from the 1600s. The sources differ slightly on the bell: one account states the present bell was recast in 1925 from the old church's bell, while another records a bell cast in 1727 by Andreas Wetterholtz of Malmö, inscribed and originally belonging to the medieval church.

The most notable object is the sandstone font, dating from the late 1100s or early 1200s and attributed to the workshop of the so-called Mörarp Master, a rare survival from the original medieval church.

The church has had several organs over the years, including instruments built in 1885 and 1916; the current mechanical organ dates from 1971.
