Sollentuna kyrka: Sollentuna church has existed for more than 800 years. Over the years it has regularly been extended, rebuilt and renovated. The most recent renovation was carried out during 2020-2021.

On this site there is a continuity of ancient remains from the Stone Age onwards. The church itself was built at the end of the 12th century and at that time consisted of the present tower and the two westernmost bays of the nave.

The original chancel was narrower than the nave, and the tower was lower than today and divided into several storeys. The rooms were used as shelter in troubled times and as storage. The main entrance was in the west. At the end of the 13th century the chancel was widened and lengthened, and the sacristy was built to the north. The brick cross-vaults were probably added during the first half of the 14th century, and during the 15th century the tower was raised and the church porch was built to the south.

The next radical change to the church occurred during the first half of the 17th century, when the polygonal high chancel was built as a burial chapel for the Berndes family of Sollentunaholm. The building, in late Renaissance style, was placed under a shared roof with the rest of the church, and a ridge turret was placed over the chancel. In 1780 the windows received their present appearance and the façade was rendered. The tower spire was erected in 1841. In 1902 the limewash paintings from the second half of the 15th century were uncovered. They were restored harshly and insensitively, something that attempts were made to repair in 1938-39. Of the nave's paintings only fragments remain, whereas a larger portion of the paintings are preserved in the church porch. There one can see The Prayer of the Pious and the Worldly and the Wheel of Fortune of Life. The paintings belong to the school represented by Albertus Pictor.

The altarpiece was probably designed by Erik Palmstedt in 1781. The church's medieval altar cabinet hangs on the north wall and is signed 1475 by Jordan Målare. The central motif is the Descent from the Cross, flanked by St Erik and St Lars. Below are six prophets. In the wings stand, among others, apostles and saints. The outsides of the wings have paintings, including a Calvary group. The font from the second half of the 13th century is a 'paradise font' with a shell-shaped basin.
