The church was consecrated on 2 September by the then Bishop of Härnösand diocese, Ernst Lönegren. Responsible for the construction was the pastorate's first vicar, Viktor Järnefors, who was assisted by the villagers of Funäsdalen, who contributed 100 days' labour to secure a church of their own. The building has a brick structure and consists of a rectangular nave, with a narrower chancel to the east. On the western side of the nave there is a church porch with an entrance. North of the chancel is a sacristy, and above the chancel is a ridge turret in which a church bell hangs.
The paintings adorning the organ gallery were painted by the artist Edward Berggren in 1928 and depict the apostles. The altarpiece is a Dutch work from the 17th century attributed to Henricus Noêll.
The remaining 5 paintings in the church and sacristy were painted and donated by the artist Stig Marn, 1912–1966, who until his death was active at Marngården in Tänndalen.
