The chapel was consecrated on 4 December 2002 by Bishop Caroline Krook, serving the newly developed Hammarby Sjöstad area within Sofia parish. It was designed by Reflex Arkitekter as part of a wider building that also contains other functions, with the chapel itself occupying the top floor.
The most distinctive feature of the building is its glass exterior walls, one of two glass-clad structures facing each other across Lugnets allé. A bell tower of dark grey stone stands at the western corner beside the entrance, holding two bells that are visible from outside.
Inside, the glass envelope is complemented by flexible interior walls created by the artist Veronica Nygren, made of chequer-patterned, clear-lacquered sheet metal. These sliding screens can be adjusted to soften strong sunlight and provide privacy from passers-by, and they allow the character of the space to be changed from an open, transparent hall to a more enclosed and intimate setting suited to worship or quiet reflection.
