Kristinehamns kyrka is centrally located in the town. The church was consecrated in 1858 and represents the breakthrough of Neo-Gothic style in Sweden, both as a building style and in terms of materials and construction technique. It took 11 years to build the church. The architect was Carl Georg Brunius from Lund, and he also designed all of the fittings. During a renovation in 1937, it was decided to install the altarpiece and pulpit from the previous church. Brunius's own items are kept in one of the towers and in the church attic. Brunius's altar cross can, however, be seen in the church's museum section, one flight up, which also contains a large number of older textiles, the oldest dating from the 15th century. The church's oldest object is the font from the 13th century. The church also has a number of epitaphs from the 17th and 18th centuries and beautiful stained-glass windows in the chancel windows. The chancel carpet, from 1951, was created by textile artist Ethel Halvarsson of Kristinehamn.
