Älvdalens kyrka is the parish church of Älvdalens församling in Dalarna, standing close to the Österdalälven river. Its long history stretches from a possible medieval chapel to a much-altered stone church that visitors can still explore today.

A medieval chapel is thought to have stood on or near this site, though its exact location and appearance remain unknown. The first stone church at Älvdalen was completed in 1585, and parts of that original building survive within the present structure. As the congregation grew, the church was extended southwards around a century later, and again eastwards in 1783.

The tower that dominates the west end was built in 1816–1817, and the rest of the church was rebuilt in the 1820s. A major transformation followed in 1903–1905 under architect Rudolf Arborelius, giving the tower its current spire and lantern, adding external buttresses, and reshaping much of the church's appearance. During this work the old pulpit and altar were removed and taken to Åsens kapell, while the church's exterior was rendered in a pale yellow with white-painted pilasters and window surrounds, in a restrained neoclassical style with some Art Nouveau decorative touches added to the walls and vaulting.

Inside, the rectangular nave has a barrel-vaulted wooden ceiling, while the semicircular chancel to the east is covered by a domed vault and enclosed by seven columns standing in a half-circle, with openings leading through to a similarly rounded sacristy behind.

The tower holds three bells: the largest, cast in 1855, the two smaller bells cast in 1903, and an older bell from 1585 that survives and still serves as the striking bell for the tower clock.

Just south of the church stands one of Sweden's oldest surviving timber storehouses, the Älvdalen kyrkhärbre, dendrochronologically dated to 1285 — a rare survival well worth a glance while visiting.

The church organ, built in 1905 by E. A. Setterquist & Son under Gustaf Setterquist (his final instrument), has since been altered and revoiced more than once, reflecting changing musical tastes over the twentieth century.
