Lilla Malma kyrka, in the small town of Malmköping in Södermanland, is a stone parish church whose origins reach back to around the year 1200, making it one of the older churches in the Diocese of Strängnäs.

The earliest parts of the building are thought to date from around 1200, when the church consisted of a modest nave measuring roughly 9 by 6 metres with a narrower chancel attached. Towards the end of the 1300s the interior was lengthened eastwards to about 16 metres, and roughly a century later brick vaults were added inside.

Further expansion followed in the eighteenth century, when a north aisle known locally as the "new church" was added. The building continued to evolve through the nineteenth century: in 1872 the old porch, which had previously served as a sacristy, was demolished and replaced by a new sacristy built into the angle between the chancel and the new aisle. During the 1890s the chancel itself was rebuilt in brick with a three-sided east end, the windows were enlarged, and the entire north wall was taken down and reconstructed. The old gable ends were also removed and replaced with stepped gables. In 1957 the church was extended a further five metres to the west, adding a new porch and organ space and removing the western stepped gable.

Inside, the altar dates from 1986 and is built of limestone, topped since 1897 by a stained-glass window in the east wall. Before that, a late Baroque altarpiece made in 1745 by the master craftsman Johan Ullberg stood in its place; this older altarpiece now hangs on the north wall of the eighteenth-century aisle. The limestone font was donated in 1931, along with a pewter basin and a silver christening bowl.

The pulpit, acquired in 1648, originally stood against the south wall but has since been moved to the angle between the old nave and the north aisle. It is decorated with the four evangelists and their traditional symbols, though the identity of its maker is unrecorded.

Outside, the church retains a freestanding wooden bell tower from 1684 housing two bells: a smaller one cast in Stockholm in 1687 and a larger, late medieval bell engraved with the figures of the Virgin Mary and Saint John. A lychgate on the south side of the churchyard, believed to date from the fifteenth century, shelters two old iron grave slabs that once lay over burials inside the church. A mortuary chapel built in the 1970s, standing west of the lychgate outside the churchyard wall, replaced an earlier chapel from 1913.
