Stenbrohults kyrka stands on the shore of Lake Möckeln in Kronoberg county, at the heart of a parish with strong Linnaean connections: the naturalist Carl von Linné's father and brother both served here as parish priests. A church has occupied this site since at least the 1300s.

The present building replaced a medieval timber and stone church that once stood just north of today's structure, complete with a detached bell tower typical of Småland's older parish churches. Plans for a replacement were drawn up in 1807 by Henrik Måsbeck, though it was not until 1827 that the parish finally committed to rebuilding. The new church was constructed between 1828 and 1830 in a restrained Empire style, and was consecrated in June 1833 by Bishop Esaias Tegnér.

The church follows a simple plan: a nave with the chancel at the west end and the tower at the east, an arrangement that reverses the more usual orientation. The tower is topped by an open lantern with a clock and a cross-crowned globe, while the roof is clad in copper. A sacristy with chamfered corners adjoins the chancel to the west. Rendered and limewashed white, the exterior gives little hint of the light, airy hall-church interior within, covered by a barrel vault.

The interior has been altered more than once. Its chancel wall originally carried painted pilasters and a draped cross within an illusionistic drapery scheme; the present altarpiece arrangement dates from 1876. A 1980 restoration returned the interior to an earlier colour scheme of blue and gold and introduced the freestanding altar table still in use. Among the furnishings, a medieval triumphal crucifix hangs above the font, and the wooden font itself is carved with figures of saints. The altarpiece, painted in 1876 by Bengt Nordenberg, depicts the Sermon on the Mount and is flanked by grisaille panels showing Moses and the apostle John.

In the porch, visitors can find painted decoration from 1713 by Hans Sigismund Brachwagen, depicting the apostles and the Virgin Mary — a survival from the earlier church that was preserved when the new building was erected. The church has also had a succession of organs, the current main instrument dating from 1960 and incorporating the façade of an earlier 1848 organ, alongside a smaller mechanical choir organ added in 1983.
