Gällareds kyrka, in the Halland countryside near Ullared, traces its origins to the earlier Middle Ages, though its present appearance dates largely from a major rebuilding in 1831. A tower was added in 1856 to designs by Johan Adolf Hawerman.

The church stands at the northern edge of Gällareds kyrkby, built of white-plastered granite with large, round-arched window openings. A semicircular sacristy projects to the east, while a narrower tower rises to the west, its lisenes, dentil mouldings and curved lantern dome giving it a modest neoclassical air. It is thought that parts of an earlier medieval church survive within the fabric of the present building, which was substantially reconstructed in 1831.

Despite these later alterations, the church preserves a notable group of medieval furnishings. A font carved from Gotland sandstone, in three parts and dated to the later thirteenth century, is among the oldest surviving objects. A triumphal crucifix from the later fifteenth century hangs on the north wall of the nave, alongside a wooden Madonna and Child from the early fifteenth century and an oak figure of Saint Olof believed to date from the sixteenth century.

The pulpit and altarpiece seen today were made in 1862 by Johannes Johansson of Mjöbäck in a neoclassical style, with paired columns beneath a triangular pediment. They replaced an earlier altarpiece and pulpit of 1651, which remain in the church and are displayed to one side of the chancel, offering a visible contrast between seventeenth- and nineteenth-century craftsmanship.

The organ was acquired second-hand from Snöstorps kyrka in 1885; it had originally been built in 1854 and was later rebuilt more than once, retaining a mechanical action across two manuals and pedal.

The churchyard, part of the Ekomuseum Skogsbygden network, is known for its collection of older gravestones, some dating from the seventeenth century, which have been restored and re-erected.
