Öckerö församling
Mariakyrkan
Mariakyrkan on Öckerö was built as early as around the year 1240. It was made of wood and rather unassuming. The wooden church was replaced around the year 1450 by the stone church we see today. The church's beautiful ceiling paintings from the late 1700s are signed by the renowned artist Jean Lilliedal. The church holds two particularly interesting furnishings – a crucifix and a soapstone font from the 1200s.
