Drängsereds kyrka, in the Halland village of Drängsered, was built in 1780–1783 and consecrated on 30 January 1785, when it was named after the reigning Queen of Sweden, Sophia Magdalena, consort of Gustav III.

The church stands on a site thought to have medieval origins, and its walls incorporate masonry from an earlier stone church on the same spot. That earlier building was dedicated to Saint Olof, the Norwegian saint-king Olav den helige, and a spring associated with his cult, said to have been used for church visits and offerings, lies close by.

The present building is a rectangular nave with a three-sided chancel to the east, built of stone with whitewashed walls pierced by arched window openings. A timber tower rises over the west gable, topped with a dome and lantern, and a stone porch, added in 1916 to replace an earlier wooden one from 1882, forms the western entrance. The exterior remains largely as built in the 1780s, with later additions designed to harmonise with the original structure. Inside, the barrel-vaulted ceiling is built of wood and rendered, and its side sections were decorated in 1953 by the artist Erik Stenholm.

The current colour scheme and fixed fittings mostly date from a thorough restoration led by the architect Harald Wadsjö in 1937, who also designed the altarpiece setting; the accompanying altar painting is by Einar Forseth. Older furnishings survive alongside this work, including a font in bell metal from 1617 and a pulpit of 1628 bearing a Danish-language inscription. In the chancel stand pews with carved and painted panels also dating from 1628. Among the church's oldest treasures is a wooden sculpture of Saint Michael from the 16th century, positioned by the steps to the pulpit — a reminder of the building's pre-Reformation predecessor.

A notable link to the older dedication survives in a church seal bearing Saint Olof's emblem, an axe. The church bells date from 1794. The organ has a layered history: a rygg-positiv originally built in 1597 by Hans Orgemager of Copenhagen for Sankt Petri church in Malmö was installed here around 1799–1800, while the main body of that historic instrument went elsewhere and was eventually preserved in a museum. A wholly new organ was built in 1867, rebuilt in the 1930s, and replaced again in 1970 by a mechanical organ from Tostareds Kyrkorgelfabrik, which retains the organ case from the 1867 instrument.
