Hylletofta kyrka is a medieval parish church in the village of Hylletofta, part of Vrigstad-Hylletofta parish in the Diocese of Växjö. Dating from the 1100s, it belongs to the so-called Njudunga churches, a group of early stone churches in this part of Småland.

The church began as a nave with a chancel and apse to the east, a plan typical of the Njudunga group. A sacristy was added to the south wall in the 1500s, while the bells originally hung in a separate wooden bell tower. Between 1781 and 1783 the building underwent major alterations: the nave was extended westward and the present tower was built, giving the exterior its current Gustavian character. The tower has a helm-shaped roof topped by a small lantern and a cross finial. A lychgate dating from the 1600s still stands to the west of the tower.

Inside, the church has the character of a hall church with a flat wooden ceiling. A narrow triumphal arch separates the nave from the chancel, with a smaller arch leading into the apse. Medieval and 17th-century wall paintings survive in the vaulted chancel and apse; these had been limewashed over and were only uncovered during a restoration in 1950. The apse features a medallion depicting the Throne of Mercy with apostles below, while the chancel is decorated with acanthus scrolls and star motifs.

The same 1950 restoration also brought to light an unusual find: a rune-carved oak log, thought to date from the late Viking Age or early medieval period. Radiocarbon dating of the wood has been cited as supporting a medieval date, calibrated to somewhere between 1280 and 1430 AD, though the carved characters themselves do not form legible words — they appear to be a repeated sequence of the younger runic alphabet rather than a message.

Among the church's furnishings is an early medieval outer door, kept in the porch, made of wood and decorated with wrought iron figures. The font, carved from sandstone and dated to the late 1100s, is richly decorated and attributed to the Njudunga group of craftsmanship. A triumphal crucifix on the north wall dates from the 1400s, and the round pulpit with its sounding board has a neoclassical style. The old box pews were conserved in 1950, replacing open benches installed in the early 1900s, and the organ loft's front panel incorporates older pew doors reused as decoration.

The church's organ was built in 1957 by Olof Hammarberg of Gothenburg, replacing an earlier harmonium.
