Mariakyrkan i Hammarkullen is a shared church building in the Hammarkullen district of Gothenburg, used jointly by the Church of Sweden and the Uniting Church in Sweden (Equmeniakyrkan). Originally built as the Tomaskyrkan, it reflects decades of ecumenical cooperation in the area.

The building was constructed in 1974 as Tomaskyrkan by the Swedish Missionary Union, the forerunner of today's Equmeniakyrkan. It stood alongside the separate Hammarkullen church, run by the Church of Sweden, and the two congregations developed a close working relationship from the early 1970s onwards.

In 2011 the two denominations formalised a shared agreement: the Church of Sweden closed its own Hammarkullen church and the two congregations began worshipping together in the former Tomaskyrkan building, which was renamed Mariakyrkan.

Architecturally, the church is built of timber on a concrete base, arranged around an atrium courtyard. Its pale façade is marked by a large dark cross, and the complex has historically included a worship hall, a chapel with a quiet room, a café area, a church square, a play room, meeting rooms and offices. Inside, the walls of the main hall are partly brick, finished in a mix of whitewash and grey tones.

The building's more recent history has been troubled. In 2020 press reports described serious mould damage, with repair costs estimated at around eight million kronor, leading the congregations to leave the building and continue their work from a temporary pavilion nearby. Planning for a replacement building combining a church with sheltered housing for older people was reported to be at an early stage as of late 2025.

According to a 2026 news report, the vacated church building was vandalised, with windows broken and items inside damaged; the same report stated that demolition was planned for autumn 2026, with a new combined building expected by 2029. Given the uncertainty and pace of these changes, visitors should treat any details about the building's current state or accessibility with caution.
